Common Octopus (Octopus vulgaris) – Blue Heron Bridge, Riviera Beach, Fl
Getting in close to an octopus is an inspiring experience. Not only do they possess the ability to change shape, color, and texture to match their surroundings, but they also display personalities that vary from animal to animal. Some octopi want nothing to do with a diver carrying a large camera and bright lights. Others, like the one pictured, seem genuinely curious and do not mind sitting still for a few photos. The eyes are always so impressive, with dilating pupils, freckles of color, and a clear ‘atmospheric’ dome.
