Skeleton Shrimp (Caprella sp.) – Blue Heron Bridge, Riviera Beach, FL
Skeleton shrimp are everywhere, but chances are even if there were twenty in an area, you might not even see one. This is because skeleton shrimp are minuscule – borderline microscopic (largest specimens growing to 1 cm). They’re also translucent, which doesn’t making finding them any easier, but aids the shrimp in concealing its identity as its attaches itself to algae, sponges, or hydroids where it waits to snare a meal.
