Octopuses have an ability to transform both their texture as well as their color pattern to help conceal it from predators, a chameleon-like property that is truly beautiful to witness. On the contrary, this Octopus must have felt quite comfortable in front of my camera on this night as it displayed varying yellow and orange patterns which made it stand out from the bottom. I particularly like the ornately decorated eye on this animal, a freckled display that Pollack, himself, would appreciate. With a macro lens attached, I was lucky enough to move in close (about an inch away from the animal) and capture the brilliant details of its eye and excurrent siphon.
