An Octopus spends most of its time under ledges, between rocks, and in hiding holes protecting itself from any predator’s attack and waiting for an appropriate time to come out and feed.  Finding an Octopus out in the open is preferred for photographers – finding a friendly, curious, and seemingly enthusiastic Octopus out in the open is a venerable gift for anyone in the water.  This little guy (about the size of an orange) approached out of the darkness and began to pose, perched on a flat platform that it was apparently using as a stage.  Balling up, hugging itself, and then flattening back out as each one of its 8 arms uncurled to inspect our cameras and the surrounding area, I snapped about 50 photos while enjoying the company of our new friend.  It’s difficult to tell from a photo, but the personality that this creature possessed reminded me of a friendly dog meeting a new stranger at the front door.
